Here is a study in two contradictions. The concepts
of emancipation or freedom and bondage or captivity. Lying at two opposite
poles of the thought spectrum, their extreme meanings and adverse connotations
only, ironically bind them together.
EMANCIPATION ... IS BLISS.
uses this very opposing nature of these two concepts defined in this verse
to represent some modern day concepts through this composition. The modern
age and our dependence on a mechanical life full of machines and gadgets
equals bondage represented by machine parts, and The organic shapes glowing
with bright light signifying our return towards nature ‘n simplicity,
and finally emancipation.
This artwork also uses the Phi spiral and the 24 steps of seduction as described
by Robert Greene in his book “the Art of Seduction” signifying
emancipation from Virginal Bondage.
