.The FUTURE of Art.

. . . . . . . . .................................................................. . . . . . . . . .

All right, Some of my Journal entries on Futurology when I was on holiday in January 2005. Publishing it here.

Just wondering looking at the recent clampdown on all BitTorrent trackers by MPAA and Inc. This has been a story for a couple of years from Napster onwards....and then Happened the Tsunami disaster, crippling all communications in the affected areas. Sometimes feels like a Jerry Bruckhimer movie.

Taking that notion further, Let's imagine a scenario when The Internet is shut down one day. Like what people feared in Y2K. But only much bigger and total erasure of the entity called The internet - invented in a UCLA lab in 1969. Yes 1969— The year Man conquered the moon, The Beatles gave their last public performance, Woodstock happened and changed music forever.

I hope It does not shut down, But just what if ... ?

Well in that scenario, entities, and owners of those such as MediaTemple, Gutenberg Project, Internet Archive, Artchive, ArtRenewal, Questia, Bartelby, Mp3.com etc. and all those with Huge databases of written, audio and visual knowledge and Information, will become offline vendors of information that they had backed up when the net was still alive. Not only these big information Databases, but nerds like me (and much more prolific than me) who have been Download Freaks and have been obsessed with collecting random Media , Data, and Information in digital formats, will become the supreme sources of "then" 'Antique' information, Entertainment and Databases.

Just like we today value and collect old and dilapidated manuscripts and documents, religious or otherwise, Individuals with excuisite High Tastes and fanatic Antique Collectors would pay tower high prices for an antique website Template or once "Alive" page of say, cnn.com or a Screen capture of an Ebay auction page... Or an archived version of Kazaa P2P Client with Unfinished Downloads which were started say , a 100 years back in time. Antique Hard disc Drives with Files and Folders and incomplete .psd Files and Instant messenger chat session Histories... conversations which were cut off in the middle and never even gave time to the chatters to say Bye or post another Smilie... Due to the Great Internet Shutdown of 20_ _. These "Antiques" will give people a thrill and a sense of Being in a time warp , Just as ancient Sanskrit and Persian manuscripts give me today.

The collectors , then in far future, would wonder in amazement at the ridiculously slow and Lo tech Lifestyle of people and the so called Computer Geeks from the beginning of the 21'st Century.

... to be continued ...
