.DIGITAL Art in Art Galleries :: Why not?.

Here, in the traditional art world if a so called "Veteran" artist splashes color mindlessly on a canvas its considered of Higher value than a sincere, talented and skilled Digital artist who creates a painting in a software like Painter with his own Knowledge of Anatomy, Perspective,Colour, Value, Chroma, composition and research on concept of the artwork. [And you dont become a veteran by the virtue of your experience, wealth of knowledge, skill, body of work or exceptional display of consistency in quality of work. You just have to age, wear Intellectual torn clothing and grow a shabby beard.]

Now had the Digital artist applied all his Skills, time, effort and Knowledge onto an actual canvas or paper, He would be revered like a master, But alas! He does it on a computer.... where "The Computer does all The work"
Hope people gain some wisdom and power to be objective and openminded.

Lets take a view of Why is it that a new medium such as 3D or 2D digital art is not given an equal footing with other mediums.

We are what we are exposed from our childhood.These so called Doyens and custodians of Art and Culture world ...More so The art Business world have their Minds so shut and full of preconceived notions that any new artform or mediun in art that tries to raise its head seems to them as something that would damage or alter their sensibilities, ideologies and their obsolete beliefs. And Moreover , The traditional artists I have met seem to be kind of "Intimidated" by the power of this medium.
They feel scared that this is a medium where an artist is free and able to work in Acrylics, watercolor, oils, impasto and Much Much more and can produce stunningly amazing visual results.... and they feel their reservoir of knowledge is so miniscule that they can only work at a Maximum of three mediums And some spend half their lives in learning one.

. This Fear of someone Outdoing them Makes them and their Patrons(Gallery Owners) stand up in arms against This Medium of art which I think is just another medium of expression.

Lets Face it,

Digital Art challenges the establishment , as far as the Gallery scene Goes. And anything, throughout Human History, That has dared to rise up and challenge the established rules and workings of society and any elements thereof, has had to face stiff opposition from the ones who deem themselves powerful and in control of beliefs and aspirations of the masses. Heck! Galileo Galilie was even Killed for it, and so was Martin Luther King Jr. and many more.

Thats nothing new There will always be people who will revel in their obsolete ideologies and on seeing something new and revolutionary will stand up in arms against that novel entity.... That itself is the biggest proof that Their time is over and Its just a matter of time that They will have no option but to give way to the new Ideologies, Movements, and forms of expression such as Digital art.... soon I see Exclusive Digital Art galleries coming up in the Real world and giving stiff competition to Those who had earlier closed their doors to Anything Digital.

The need is not to crucify, Vehemently oppose or deny exposure to any form or medium of art ...but to Coexist and cohabit in a world where all art mediums which require substantial Skill, Effort, learning , emotional input and communication are given their due respect and are treated as equals. No Prejudices, No Hatred, and no denigration of any Medium of expression.

Afterall what matters is the Content of that Expression not the medium through which it is expressed.

And Lets leave it to The Viewer, customer, Art collector, or the spectator to decide what is good and what is bad. Lets not spoonfeed the Buyer.He has a mind of his own If he Likes it He will Buy it or He'll move on.

Hope in future we live in a world where Digital art is given the respect, and credibility as any other artform today commands.
